Song: Pidä Kädestä

Hold on to the hand

There’s two so different lands.
another one is carved from the light.
To another’s fields the day doesn’t shine,
there’s endless night in it’s rooms.
Between those two goes the black river,
as deep as endlessness.

To that (the river) I’ve felt longing,
when the fall has eroded my soul.

And now on the top of weak and a flimsy bridge,
I ask you to help.

Hold on to my hand if my feet falters,
carry (me) when my canes (a cane construction) collapses on to the ground.
Let (me) fly from the shadows to the lights,
carry me in the cover of your wings.

Because my spirit, which is fortune’s slave, is weak,
it has only a temple frail and pretty.
(I ask you to*) walk with me across this bridge,
(through) the morning and the last evening.

I saw the wet planks in front of me,
some of them were already snapped away.
The dead’s graves in** the surges of the river,
would my place be there?
I close my eyes, can’t watch,
when can’t see to the oppposite shore.
And there’s no ground under feet,
my steps goes (lonely) as an orphan.

And now between the bleak sky and the stream,
I ask you to help.

And when the bridge rocked in the wind,
I was ready to give up.
I felt how your fingers grabbed
on to my adymanic arm.
And when the ropes cave in under my bridge,
you didn’t let go even then.

(I ask you to*) walk with me across this bridge,
(through) the morning and the last evening.

hold on to the hand x3

* “Kanssani kuljethan” is actually a kind of a request, but not a direct request, it’s more like a supplication like “I trust you’d do this for me, wouldn’t you?”. I don’t know can it be said in English, but “I ask you to” sounded the best on to my ear in this sentence.

** This would actually be “from” if I’d translate it directly, but seens it doesn’t tell the meaning well (at least I think so^^) I put there “in”… Feel free to correct me i you’ll make up a better translation. : )

Vuorien Taa (english)

Song: Vuorien Taa

To behind the mountains
Do your shoes walk,
even if your legs brakes?
Towards a cold village,
where freedom gets the power,
ghostwails falls on ears,
asks to follow.
Will you be brave enough to rise towards the mountain for walking to there?
I know you’ve secretly been watching the way to the top,
been thirsty to taste the deceitful salt of inclination,
staring at the dark area of the worned map,
in your dreams heard the singing of the virgin of the mountains.

Beyond the mountains
go to walk.
Behind the steps,
leaves the black land.

Beyond the mountains
go to walk.
Behind the steps,
leaves the black land.

Beyond the mountains
go to walk,
go to walk.
Behind the steps,
leaves the black land,
leaves the black land.

Don’t you recognize the lucky seeker like yourself?
Traitor won’t ever get rid of his/her fear.
I know how easy it’s to make the mind fall,
I know how to enchant the soul with ones singing.

Beyond the mountains
go to walk.
Behind the steps,
leaves the black land.

Beyond the mountains
go to walk,
go to walk.
Behind the steps,
leaves the black land,
leaves the black land.
